Share

It’s worldwide fun on the #AOTW today jamming and vibing to Mr Worldwide music telling us that he is a global brand, not just local to his home. He’s a Grammys award winner. His music genres and styles include: Latin Pop/Rock., Latin Rap, Reggaeton, Pop and Dancehall. He may look as like he’s on hiatus but hey he’s got so much going apart from making appearances as guest artist in hits songs with the likes of  Jlo, Usher, Enrique Iglesias among other collaborations. He’s got his song featured on the soundtrack to the film 2 Fast 2 Furious back in 2003. He’s got 10 successful albums.

It interesting how far Pitbull has come despite all criticism. Some claim he’s not talented. He can’t sing. He’s got shallow lyrical content. He’s arrogant and boastful.  They even say he doesn’t have good looks for a pop star. They said he’s a terrible rapper even ranked worst rapper (Gentleman’s Quarterly ranked him as the 9th worst rapper of all time) at some point. C’mon guys!

Perhaps Pitbull chose to ignore all criticisms and decided to be called Pitbull instead- a dog name for a type of dog descended from bulldogs and terriers. He  said he chose that stage name “because the dogs “bite to lock. The dog is too stupid to lose”. What does that mean though? Moving on! The American rapper Pitbull was born Armando Christian Pérez on January 15, 1981 (37), in Florida (Miami) to Cuban immigrant parents. He attended South Miami High School and later attended Miami Coral Park High School where he focused his career on rapping.

In 2001, Pitbull was signed on to Luther Campbell’s Luke Records the same year he was introduced to an independent label and management company specializing in developing artists, who saw the eagerness and hunger for music in Pitbull and began to develop him.  Pitbull’s career kicked off fully after he was offered  a solo track on a 2002 album called Kings of Crunk. He then released his debut album M.I.A.M.I (Money Is A Major Issue ) under TVT Records in 2004 . The album peaked at #14 on the US Billboard 200 chart in September  and was certified Gold in April 2005 for reaching sales of 500,000. He did a to the same album titled ”Money Is Still a Major Issue” in November 2005. His2nd studio album – El Mariel came through end of October 2006, peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 .

He released his 3rd album -The Boatlift in November 2007The album debuted at #50. Pitbull’s first 3 albums in summary weren’t that big according to reviews by critics. He got signed on to another  label -Polo Grounds/J Records through his own imprint, Mr. 305 (the area code of Miami) and dropped his 4th studio albumRebelution, in September 2009. The album spawned fifth singles that were commercially successful. His 4th album was his break through album!
