Tyla Laura Seethal (born 30 January 2002), known mononymously as Tyla is a South African singer and songwriter. Tyla was born in Johannesburg into a Colored family of Zulu, Indian, Mauritian and Irish descent. She matriculated from Edenglen High School in 2019 and was the schools head of culture in that year. While at school, she had begun posting original songs and covers to her Instagram account, as well as sending them out to a number of figures in the music industry.
Four: Getting Late
Tyla signed with Epic Records in 2021 after the domestic success of her 2019 debut single, Getting Late featuring Kooldrink, which achieved international success. The official music video has garnered over 8.5M views on its official music video on YouTube.

With the official music video garnering over 4.8M views, “Truth or Dare” by Tyla was released from her debut studio album “Tyla” on the 2nd of February, 2024. She first performed this song on the season 24 finale of THE VOICE and on the 2024 Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’Eve Television Special. it charted number one in UK Afrobeats Charts, Number 4 on US Afrobeats Songs Chart and South Africa Airplay.
