LATEST ALBUMS, BIGGEST HITS
This week on Artist of the Week, we’re switching things up! Instead of ranking the artists themselves, we’re diving into the latest albums from four of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats stars and highlighting the biggest-performing songs from each project. From Ayra Starr to Victony, Asake and Davido, we’re counting down four standout tracks that have been making the biggest impact.
Four: Heaven Baby by Ayra Starr Ft. ZAYN
At number four is Ayra Starr with “Heaven Baby,” featuring British singer ZAYN. The song was released on August 14, 2026, as the 14th track on Ayra Starr’s third studio album, Starrgirl. Built around a stripped-back, piano-led production, “Heaven Baby” is a romantic duet about being completely overwhelmed by love, with Ayra and ZAYN describing their partners as almost angelic and expressing the kind of devotion that makes life without that person feel unimaginable. Commercially, the song has moved incredibly quickly: after debuting at No. 4 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 with over 15.3M streams on Spotify and over 3.8M views on YouTube, it climbed to a new peak of No. 2 in its second week, making it the highest-charting song from Starrgirl so far. “Heaven Baby” was produced by The Monsters & Strangerz, specifically Stefan Johnson and Jordan K. Johnson, with Fermin Suero Jr. handling vocal production and recording, while Johnny Drille is credited for mixing and mastering. Its momentum extends beyond Nigeria too, with the song generating more than 100,000 TikTok uses within its first 48 hours and reaching No. 1 on the UK Official British Asian Music Chart. With its international pairing, strong early chart performance and growing social-media presence, “Heaven Baby” is quickly establishing itself as one of the defining songs of Ayra Starr’s new Starrgirl era.
Three: SLICK by Victony
Released on July 8, 2026, “SLICK” by Victony is the standout single from his sophomore album STARLIFE, which arrived on August 21. Produced by Ozedikus and Dera The Boy, the sleek Afro-R&B record explores attraction, confidence and the excitement of pursuing a romantic interest, with Victony delivering the song with his characteristically laid-back vocal style. The track quickly became a major commercial success, earning Victony his first solo No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, where it spent three consecutive weeks at the summit, while also reaching No. 1 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart. Also adding to this track’s success, it has garnered over 33M streams on Spotify and over 12M views on YouTube. The song had already generated serious buzz from its snippet before its official release, with listeners reacting to it online and recreating the record even before the full version arrived. Following the release of STARLIFE, “SLICK” has remained one of the project’s biggest performers, continuing to pull strong streaming and radio numbers and establishing itself as one of Victony’s defining records of 2026.
Two: B4 B4 by Davido, Mayorkun & FOLA
Released on July 31, 2026, “B4 B4” by Davido, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, is one of the standout records from Davido’s sixth studio album, ORIADÉ. The title “B4 B4” plays on the idea of going back to the beginning, while the song itself is a confident celebration of success, loyalty and the journey that brought Davido to where he is today. The collaboration is particularly significant because it reunites Davido with Mayorkun, whom he signed to DMW in 2016, while bringing in FOLA, one of the newer voices making waves in Nigerian Afrobeats. Commercially, “B4 B4” has been a hit. It debuted at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, giving Davido his second No. 1 from ORIADÉ and his second chart-topping collaboration with Mayorkun after “The Best” in 2020. It went ahead to garner over 22.6M streams on Spotify and over 7.2M views on its official music video on YouTube. The song’s success also feeds into the much bigger story of ORIADÉ. The album itself generated 7.67 million Spotify streams globally in its first full day. Internationally, ORIADÉ also debuted at No. 9 on Spotify’s U.S. Top Albums Debut Chart, reinforcing Davido’s continued global reach. And with “B4 B4” spending four straight weeks at the top of Nigeria’s official singles chart, the record has given Davido one of the clearest commercial statements of his latest era.
Bonus Track
TEA by Rema
Released on August 7, 2026, “TEA” is Rema’s first solo single of the year and the latest release from the Nigerian superstar as he begins a new chapter following the global success of his recent collaborations. “TEA” was produced by American hitmaker Mustard, with additional production from Rema’s longtime collaborator London. Commercially, “TEA” made an immediate impact in Nigeria, debuting at No. 3 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 in its first tracking week. It has remained inside the Nigerian Top 10, reaching No. 6 in its third week, while internationally it has peaked at No. 5 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart. The song also garnered over 10.5M streams on Spotify and over 4.9M views on its official music video on YouTube. The accompanying visual reinforces that carefree, high-energy identity, while the song itself has already been described as the opening statement of a potential new Rema era. The production is one of the song’s biggest talking points. Mustard brings his trademark American hip-hop influence into the record, while London helps connect that sound to the Afrobeat and Afropop world Rema has established over the years. The result is a rhythm-heavy crossover record that sits somewhere between Afrobeats, dancehall and contemporary global pop.
One: WORSHIP by Asake Ft. DJ Snake
“WORSHIP” by Asake and French-Algerian DJ and producer DJ Snake was released on March 19, 2026, it became the lead single for Asake’s fourth studio album, M$NEY. Produced by DJ Snake and Nigerian hitmaker Magicsticks, the 2-minute-43-second record fuses Asake’s signature Afrobeats and Fuji-inspired sound with electronic production, live instrumentation and gospel elements, including contributions from the Soweto Spiritual Singers and Chineke! Orchestra. Lyrically, “WORSHIP” is a song of faith, gratitude, resilience and perseverance: Asake repeatedly invokes “Alhamdulillah,” meaning “praise be to God,” while reflecting on his journey. Commercially, “WORSHIP” was an immediate success in Nigeria. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, opening with 4.93 million on-demand streams and 38 million radio impressions, giving Asake his record-extending 16th Nigerian No. 1. It then held the top spot for five consecutive weeks, becoming one of the biggest radio and streaming records in the country during its run. So far, it has successfully garnered over 50M streams on Spotify and over 14M views on its official music video on YouTube. The collaboration also crossed into international territory, peaking at No. 5 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart, demonstrating just how far a song rooted in Nigerian street-pop and spiritual testimony could travel. Ultimately, “WORSHIP” works because it turns Asake’s personal gratitude and testimony into something both deeply reflective and commercially accessible.
