Achromatopsia is an inherited vision disorder affecting your ability to perceive color. The condition also affects vision quality. However symptoms can be severe and interfere with everyday life. Quickly we have 2 types of achromatopsia, namely;
Complete: Vision is limited to black, white and shades of grey.
Incomplete: Color vision is limited, with dull hues that can be difficult to distinguish.
Causes of Achromatopsia

Heredity
The majority of color vision deficiency is inherited. It typically passes from mother to son. And Inherited color blindness doesn’t cause blindness or other vision loss.
Diseases
You can also have color blindness as a result of disease or injury to your retina as a result, your ability to distinguish colors may diminish.
Medications
Certain medications can cause changes in color vision and these include the antipsychotic medications, also the antibiotic ethambutol (Myambutol), which treats tuberculosis, may cause optic nerve problems and difficulty seeing some colors.
Aging
Color blindness may also be due to aging. Vision loss and color deficiency can happen gradually with age.
And finally, Achromatopsia can be treated but not prevented.
