Yes, Life Can Be Good Without Waist Trainers!

Waist trainers made their debut some years ago and since then, it has been a fad we can’t quite shake off. Different versions of it for different purposes have emerged and people have embraced them with arms wide open and the market is ever-expanding as time goes on. I, for one, want to get one for myself and my sisters have said the same as well. Every lady now wants the hour-glass figure and if you’re financially blessed enough, the waist trainer is your go-to to give you that desired figure.
My own issue here is the babe I saw in church obviously putting on a waist trainer, the way her waist was snatched, but it obviously was several sizes smaller; so obvious that her ‘love handles’ were protruding at the top and bottom. The part that hurt the most was that she was not even fat or had a really big stomach or anything, she could totally have slayed that dress without the waist trainer. Now with the waist trainer, the dress was now looking “one kind” on her body.
This made me ask why she bothered. Someone probably told her she’d look better with it and ruined her confidence. This happens a whole lot and causes what happened in one scene in the Nigerian series “Skinny Girl in Transit”, when the star character Tiwa went with her man, Mide, to see his mother and fainted after the dinner due to the constriction of her stomach by the waist trainer and inability to breathe properly. Abeg, people of God, is it by force? It’s not now, ehn? That Tiwa situation has happened to two other people I know so I could totally relate with that scene.
Here’s where I’m going: societal standards are simply that, SOCIETAL STANDARDS! They are not and do not have to be YOUR standards. If your slim and without the hour-glass figure and you want it, let that be your choice. If you want to use the waist trainer to fit better into a nice dress, let that be your choice as well. Don’t let the life of the gram lead you into making ANY decisions because really, it ain’t all that in real life and really too, life can be great without waist trainers.
