Ladipo Eso popularly known as Ladipoe or Poe is a Nigerian musician.

 

Ladipoe was born and raised in Lagos. He attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke majoring in both Biology & Chemistry. It was there he got into music and co-founded the group “Lyrically Equipped” with his friends Jeffrey and Kurt. On 28 February 2017, He was then signed to Mavin Records by Don jazzy in 2017 alongside Iyanya, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello.

 

Poe was the first rapper to be signed to Mavin Records since re-branding in 2012 from Mo’Hits. Poe recorded his first single under the label Man Already produced by Altims. Poe is inspired by the Slum Village, Lupe and Little Brother.

His first major appearance was his feature on “Marry Me” by Falz ft Yemi alade and Himself. He rose to prominence with the song “Feel Alright” where he got featured by SDC “Show Dem Camp”.

After graduation, his mother introduced him to a guy named Tec from a group called SDC. He exhibited his lyrical prowess in SDC’s hit song titled “Feel Alright”(which we played at the beginning of the segment) which was nominated for Best Alternative Song of the Year (2013) at Nigeria’s foremost music award show, The Headies.

Following the success of his first two singles under Mavin Records, Poe released his much-anticipated debut album, Talk About Poe (T.A.P). The album is a fusion of rap, dancehall, new highlife (palm-wine) and hip-hop. The wordsmith built his reputation as one of the best emcees by delivering killer verses on features.

 

No. 3: Know you – Ladipoe feat. Simi
The track, ‘Know You’ which features one of Nigeria’s finest singers, Simi became LadiPoe’s first number 1 on Apple Music Top 100 charts. The song has amassed over 1.71 million streams on Audiomack, more than his entire debut album ‘TAP (Talk About Poe) ’ was streamed.

 

No 2: Yoruba Samurai – Ladipoe feat. Joeboy
His second single in 2020 and was produced by Ozedikus. Ladipoe has remained a non-conformist, and even when it seemed like his music was not earning commercial value in the early days of his career, he remained true to his art form.
