Aaron Combs was paying Miranda Canady £240 for every date, but after their fourth one they realised it was becoming serious
Miranda Canady, 20, and Aaron Combs, 34, met through a dating website where men set up dates with ‘sugar babies’ and shower them with expensive gifts and cash.
Miranda, a waitress, joined in July 2017 and was given £3,000 for one date and everything from jewelry to clothes from her ‘sugar daddies’.
When she met Aaron he would pay her £240 for every date, but after their fourth one they realised things were becoming more serious and they both wanted something more.
She joined the website after seeing models travel and make money from men.
Miranda said: “I was living in Kansas and was an 18-year-old student searching for more perspective on life when I joined the website.
“At first it was fun – I met successful men and received up to $3,800 (£3,000) from one gentleman. I also received many gifts, such as jewelry, clothes, perfume, and flowers.
“They never made me feel uncomfortable, but I felt like they were there to make themselves happy, as though something was missing in their lives.
“They wanted someone younger who could keep up with their ever-changing lifestyle.
“Then I met Aaron in the same month I joined the website, and he became my sugar daddy as we dated on and off until March 2018.”
Aaron, who works in industrial refrigeration tech, gave Miranda $300 (£240) after their date at a Mexican restaurant.
The pair agreed to have a mutually beneficial relationship, in which Aaron would pay Miranda the same amount for every date.
Aaron said: “I realised things were becoming more serious after date number four.
“We ended up hanging out just because we wanted to”
Miranda agreed she and Aaron grew closer and she no longer wanted to accept his money.
However, just as things started to become serious Aaron moved to Cincinnati in April 2018.
Their connection was so strong that Aaron bought a plane ticket for Miranda so she could join him.
By September 2018, the couple made it official and later married on June 27 this year after Aaron proposed by a river in Washington state.
Miranda said: “I was never looking for love, I was just dating for my own goals.
“If you can open your mind and open your heart it’s possible to find someone anywhere – some sugar babies are probably just there for their own benefit and keep their guard up, but there is someone out there for everyone.
“Aaron is my person – he treats me with respect, values my opinion and wants me to be the best I can be.”
Miranda and Aaron say they don’t regret their decision.
Aaron said: “I feel that people find love when they aren’t looking for it.
“I was looking for an arrangement and a friend, but ended up meeting the love of my life.”
