Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move to sign Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka only made his Premier League debut last February but the 21-year-old right-back has burst onto the scene with a string of accomplished performances for Palace this season. Roy Hodgson is aware of the growing interest in Wan-Bissaka and is determined to keep hold of the young Englishman who is tied into a deal at Selhurst Park until the summer of 2022. According to the Daily Mirror, United and Chelsea have joined Manchester City in the race to sign the defender.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for Antonio Valencia’s replacement, with the 33-year-old full-back out of contract at the end of the 2018/19 campaign. While Diogo Dalot has impressed since his move from Porto in the summer, United are keen to bring in more cover at right-back. Chelsea are also interested in Wan-Bissaka as Davide Zappacosta prepares to leave the club in the coming months.

Asked about City’s reported interest in Wan-Bissaka back in November, Hodgson replied: ‘I’ve got absolutely no idea if there’s any truth to the subject at all. ‘You’d have to ask Pep Guardiola and I very much doubt whether he’d give you an answer anyway.

‘But it’s good I suppose that there are people out there writing stories, who see the quality of Bissaka and appreciate what he’s been doing and linking [him] with another club. ‘But as far as we’re concerned of course we have him as our player, he’s under contract with us and we have no desire or intention of selling him so it’s certainly not anything which occupies my waking moments or sleeping moments either for that matter.’
