At least three people have been killed in a train derailment in the US state of Washington. The high-speed Amtrak train was making its inaugural journey when it came off the tracks and fell onto a busy interstate highway.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate whether the track had been misaligned; whether there was any tampering with the rail line; or whether the high-speed technology had suffered a failure.
