Robert Rihmeek Williams better known by his stage name Meek Mill is an American rapper songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born May 6, 1987, in South Philadelphia. He adopted the rap name “Meek Mill” after family and friends from his neighborhood kept referencing him by his middle name. Meek is coined as the latest rap phenomenon to come out of the city of Philadelphia.
Speaking of family, Meek Mill grew up with his mother and his sister Nasheema. According to report, when Meek was five years old, his father was killed during an attempted robbery. So his mother had to move to North Philadelphia, where she had to take to hair cutting and other menial jobs to support the family due to poor fiscal condition.
Now over to Meek Mill’s music sojourn. Raised in Philadelphia, Meek’s interest in hip-hop grew acquainted with one of his uncles, Grandmaster Nell, who was a pioneering disc jockey (DJ) in the late-1980s Philadelphia hip-hop scene. He says his desire to rap grew after watching his uncle Philly hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Nell apart from being influence by the independent hip-hop artists at the time (Chic Raw and Vodka) whom he used to emulate by watching their DVDs.
Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. During his early teenage years, Meek Mill often took part in rap battles, under the pseudonym Meek Millz. He later formed a rap group -The Bloodhoundz with three friends Mel Love, Dat Nigga Leel and Young Pooh. They would purchase blank cd’s and burn them with their songs. After which they would request their friends to distribute them among people. The group lasted for five years with four mixed tapes.
In 2008, Atlanta-based rapper T.I. signed Meek Mill to his first record deal label- Grand Hustle Records. TI was impressed with his lyrical ability that he offered him an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet with him along with the Warner Brothers Records, within one week Grand Hustle Records and Warner Brothers Records companies offered him a deal.
In February 2011, after leaving Grand Hustle Records, Mill signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group (MMG). There and then, he released his debut single “Tupac Back” later that year with Ross as featured guest. The single appeared in the label’s compilation album “Self Made Vol.1”. But it was the remix of “Imma Boss” that really put Mill’s name out there being at the top level on the billboard

It is the preceding single before Meek Mills debut studio album “Dreams & Nightmares under MMG and Warner Bros. Debuted at number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of November 10, 2012 before leaving the next week. It reappeared on the chart at number 92 the week of November 24. Seven weeks later, it peaked at number 86 for the week of January 12, 2013,[4] and remained on the chart for ten weeks.[5] The single was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales and streaming equivalent units of over 500,000 units in the United States
October 2012, Meek Mill announced the launch of his own record label imprint, Dream Chasers Records with the flagship artists Louie V. Gutta, Lee Mazin and Goldie. Right before then, he released a mixtape in May 2012 as precursor of his debut album, “Dreams & Nightmares”.
In the same month, he signed with Roc Nation for management. “Amen” was then released as the first single from his album, featuring recording artists Drake and Jeremih. “Dreams & Nightmares” is released on August 28, 2012. The album was named the fifteenth best Hip Hop album of 2012 by Spin Magazine while XXL named it one of the top five hip hop albums of 2012 The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2012
In November 2013, Mill announced that he was half-way finished with his second studio album. On March 8, 2014, Mill announced that the album would be titled Dreams Worth More Than Money. Mill’s album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, which was released on June 28, 2015, topped the Billboard 200 as of the issue dated July 18, 2015.
The album made its entry at number one on the US Billboard 200; and sold 246,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, with 215,000 coming from traditional album sales, marking as Meek’s first number-one album on the chart.[5] Due to the change in the tracking week by Nielsen Music SoundScan, its first week sales were counted towards its second week on the charts.[6] At the 2016’s Billboard Music Awards, the album won an award for Top Rap Album
We did say in February 2011, Mill released his single “Tupac Back” featuring Rick Ross. Later he released another single “Ima Boss” and the remixed version which ruled the charts of US Billboard.

The song was produced by DJ Mustard, with co-production from James Royo and Rance from musical ensemble 1500 or Nothin’. The song samples “Whatever You Want” by Tony! Toni! Toné!.[9] It has since peaked at number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
When everything was going right for Mills, he was arrested for the possession of drugs and a gun and put behind the bars for seven months. Apart from Drake, he’s got feuds with a few artists like, Cassidy, The Game, Beanie Sigel, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Joe Budden etc. Unfortunately in 2017, it was reported that both had ended their two-year relationship
The good news! About two weeks ago/over a couple of weeks ago (April 24 2018 Mill was released after serving almost five months of his prison sentence for violating his probation from a 2008 conviction on drug and illegal firearm charges.
He then attended the Philadelphia 76ers basketball game and performed a ceremonial bell-ringing on the court before the game just hours after his release from prison,

“All Eyes on You” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 81 for the chart dated July 11, 2015.[2] Its chart debut was aided in part by first-week digital download sales of 44,000. In July 2017, the single was cerified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales and streaming equivalent units of over two million units in the United States.
Meek Mill and nicki minaj started dating in early 2015. Nicki decided to part ways with Meek Mill after he had a spat on twitter with Drake. Although, he publicly apologized to Nicki Minaj on stage later for this words use on twitter.
What actually happened: in July 2015 Meek attempted to air out Drake for “not writing his own raps” via Twitter. The tweets resulted in a huge reaction. Drake decided to respond and released the diss track “Charged Up” demanding an immediate response from Meek.
After four days there was still no sign of a response from Meek, prompting Drake to release a second diss track “Back To Back.” The response to this was huge and a harsh blow to Meek’s career. Two days later Meek finally released “Wanna Know.” This track received largely negative reviews and it was clear to most that Drake had won the beef.
He’s got few Criminal proceedings too! Meek Mill was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm and assaulting a policeman when he was 18 years old. He was put on probation. Since then, he has been arrested for about four times for parole violation if not more (2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016) before he was later arrested at a local airport in Missouri for assaulting two pedestrians earlier in March 2017 and finally got sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for violating parole in November 2017.
Now, a question for you Linx, can you date an ex-convict? Don’t act like you understand what I am about to say though. You remember it was after his release from his three-to-six month prison sentence for probation violation in 2014 that he began dating rapper and singer Nicki Minaj in early 2015.

Where we come from, that’s a loss. When you talk L’s and W’s, you get an L, that mean you got life in jail.
