Lisa was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997 in Buriram Province, Thailand. later legally changing her name to Lalisa, meaning the one being praised. An only child, she was raised by her Thai mother, Chitthip Brüschweiler, and Swiss stepfather and chef Marco Brüschweiler. In 2010, at age 13, Lisa auditioned to join South Korean record label YG Entertainment in Thailand. She gained an interest in the K-pop industry in her childhood, admiring artists such as BigBang and 2NE1, and aspired to follow a similar path. Among the 4,000 applicants, she was the only individual to qualify, which prompted then- CEO Yang Hyun-suk into offering Lisa a chance to become a YG Entertainment trainee. She officially joined the label as its first non-ethnically Korean trainee on April 11. Lisa collaborated with French record producer DJ Snake, Puerto Rican singer Ozuna, and American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on the
moombahton and Latin trap song SG. Lisa began teasing new music on June 6 by creating a new TikTok account and posting a video paired with a teaser snippet, which led her to set a Guinness World Record by gaining a million followers in just two hours and 18 minutes. She officially released the single Rockstar through Lloud and RCA on June 28. On August 16, Lisa released her follow-up single New Woman featuring Spanish singer Rosalía. Lisa performed a medley of New Woman and Rockstar at
the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, which marked her debut major performance as a solo artist and made her the first K-pop soloist in history to perform on the show.
Four: Lalisa
Lalisa is the debut solo single by Thai rapper and singer Lisa, a member of South Korean girl group Blackpink. It was released by YG Entertainment on September 10, 2021 as the lead single from her debut single album of the same name. It has garnered over 700M views on it’s Official Music Video on YouTube and over 500M streams on spotify. Written and produced by long-time YG collaborator Teddy, along with Bekuh Boom and 24, Lalisa is characterized as a dynamic hip hop track taking influence
from Thai culture.

New Woman is the latest release of rapper and singer Lisa featuring Spanish singer Rosalía. It was released on August 16, 2024. It is a pop and electronic track with trap sonorities containing lyrics about rediscovering one’s identity. It has garnered over 118M streams on spotify and over 76M views on it’s Official Music Video on YouTube. The song was produced by Ilya and Max Martin and written by them alongside Lisa, Rosalía, Tove Burman, and Tove Lo.
