Students Of UNIBEN Leads Mass Protest After (NANS) Declares a Three-Day Shutdown

There is presently a mass protest in university of Benin Nigeria and classes have been shut down, any student found in the class is at their own risk.

This came after the school panel held a close door meeting on February 1st and decided to rusticate about five members of the school students union government. The SUG president, PRO and other prominent members of the government all rusticated. Prior to this, the rusticated students led a peaceful protest late 2017 after the school authorities increased both school fees and other payable fees. The management frowned at the protest and suspended the student body at that time.

Our sources in Benin city revealed that following the rustication, national association of Nigerian students (NANS) have declared a state of emergency in University of Benin and have embarked on a three day academic shutdown, pending the revisal of the authorities decision. Students in the school are all aggrieved owing to the poor state of facilities in the school despite the hike in fare….
