Jung Ji-hoon (born June 25, 1982), better known by his stage name Rain is a South Korean singer, songwriter, dancer, actor, and record producer born in Seosan, South Korea. His mother died in December 2000 as she struggled with diabetes. In the same year, Rain was recruited as a trainee after being repeatedly for his looks at JYP Entertainment, led by recording artist and producer Park Jin-young who saw his drive and persistence.  Rain’s musical career includes seven albums (six Korean, one Japanese), 28 singles and numerous concert tours around the world.

Four – Bad Guy: Bad Guy alternately titled N001 was released as a single from the debut studio album “Bad Guy” by South Korean pop and R&B singer Rain, released via JYP Entertainment on May 13, 2002. The official music video garnered over 199k views on YouTube. This album was where he was introduced to the media through his stage name, Rain. The album was the 45th best-selling album of the year with over 138,000 copies sold. It won Rain various newcomer awards including at the MAMA Awards, Golden Disc Awards and Seoul Music Awards.

Three – How To Avoid The Sun: How To Avoid the Sun was released on the 16th October of, 2003 as the lead single of the second Korean-language studio album by South Korean pop and R&B singer Rain. Commercially, the album peaked at number six on the monthly album charts in South Korea and was the 19th best-selling album of 2003 in the country, selling over 127,000 copies. In 2021, “How to Avoid the Sun” was ranked at number 62 in Melon and newspaper Seoul Shinmun’s list of top 100 K-pop songs of all time. The official music video garnered over 1.4M views on YouTube.

ACCOLADES & AWARDS: Rain has received numerous accolades for his work in both music and acting, including 6 Mnet Asian Music Awards, 3 Golden Disc Awards, 9 KBS Drama Awards and 2 Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2008, he was ranked 3rd among 100 leaders of the Korean entertainment industry by Sports Dong-a and was named one of Times’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2006 and 2011

  1. In 2002, Rain won various newcomer awards including at the MAMA Awards, Golden Disc Awards and Seoul Music Awards.
  2. In April 2006, Rain was included in Time magazine’s list of “100 Most Influential People in the World”.
  3. In 2008, the song “Rainism” received an Award at the Golden Disc Awards. Also in 2009, the song won the award for Best Asian Pop Song at the Hito Music Awards.

Two – Domestic: A recent single by the South Korean pop artist, Rain, “Domestic” was released as a single on the 18th of October 2022 for “Street Man Fighter,” also known as “SMF.” The official music video garnered over 5.8M views on YouTube.  Following its release, the introduction of the song was accused of plagiarizing American rapper Armani White’s “BILLIE EILISH.” Several people claimed that “BILLIE EILISH” immediately came to mind the moment they heard “DOMESTIC.” But it quickly died down to some extent as both songs are within the same genre of music.

Off the EP “Pieces” by Kpops pop icon, Rain, “Magnetic,” was released on the 3rd of March 2021 featuring the sensational Jackson Wang. It became an absolute bop that fans around the world have already played a million times over. The song is the legendary star’s first release in four years which garnered over 7.5M views on its official music video on YouTube.

One – Rainism: Rainism is off the fifth Korean-language studio album “Rainism” by South Korean singer Rain. The song was released on the October 15, 2008, in South Korea, becoming his biggest hit so far. On December 10, 2008, Rainism received the Album Bonsang at the 23RD Golden Disc Awards. The title track “Rainism” additionally achieved the top spots on the music programs Inkigayo and M Countdown, and won the Best Asian Pop Song award at the 2009 Hito Music Awards. It garnered over 4.1M views on its official music video on YouTube.
