South Korean boy band ‘Stray Kids’ grace our #AOTW segment

Stray Kids is a South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment. The group is composed of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. It was Originally a nine-piece group, but member Woojin left due to undisclosed personal reasons in October 2019. Stray Kids released their pre-debut extended play (EP) Mixtape in January 2018 and officially debuted on March 25 with the EP I Am Not.

 

4. Cheese: Off the album “No Easy” the song garnered over 38M views on YouTube. It was produced by Bang Chan, Changbin and Han one of the three members of the team’s producing group 3RACHA participated in writing and composing the lyrics for Stray Kids’ unique sensibility.

 

3. Back Door: Off the album “Go live” which garnered over 267M on YouTube. It was released through JYP Entertainment on June 17, 2020. The song was written by the written by 3Racha, a production team from members of Stray Kids (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han). On September 24, 2020, the song scored a second win the on an episode of M Countdown.

 

Awards

  • “Thunderous” won the Prêmio Anual K4US for Choreography of the Year in 2021
  • The four EPs earned the group six new artist awards in 2018 and early 2019, including Best New Male Artist at the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Best New Artist at the 33rd Golden Disc Awards, and Rookie of the Year at the 28th Seoul Music Awards and 2018 Asia Artist Awards.
  • Stray Kids has also received two nominations for Artist of the Year, one at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and the other at the Genie Music Awards, and both in 2018.
  • At the 2019 Asia Artist awards, Stray Kids won the Star15 Popularity Award, becoming the group’s first popularity accolade

2. Thunderous: Off their second studio album “NO EASY” which was released on the 23rd of August 2021 has garnered over 230M views on it’s official video on YouTube. It was released through JYP entertainment and written by 3Racha, a production team from members of Stray Kids (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han), and HotSauce.  Commercially, the song debuted at number 33 on the Gaon Digital Chart,  number 3 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales, number 80 on the Global 200. In Malaysia, the song peaked at number 14 on Top 20 Most Streamed Songs. In Singapore, the song debuted at number 24 on the RIAS Top Streaming Chart. It won the Prêmio Anual K4US for Choreography of the Year in 2021.

 

1. God’s Menu: Off the album “Go live” which was released by JYP Entertainment on June 17, 2020, and distributed through Dreamus, The lead single, “God’s Menu” garnered over 344M views on it’s official video on YouTube. It debuted at number 144 on Gaon Weekly Download Chart, become the group’s first single to appear on the chart, and also their first single to appear on the main category of digital chart of Gaon (Digital, Download, and Streaming).
