South Korean boy band ‘Ateez’ sits on our AOTW

Ateez is a South Korean boy band formed by KQ Entertainment. The group consists of eight members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho. The band is signed to KQ Entertainment.

Four: Pirate King

Released on the 24th of October,2018 as a single off their Debut EP “Treasure EP.1: All to Zero” garnered over 44M views on its official music video on YouTube. It was released through KQ Entertainment, produced by Eden, Buddy and Leez with writers of Eden, Buddy, Leez, Hongjoong and Mingi.

Three: Halazia

Garnering over 43M views on it’s official music video on YouTube, “Halazia”  was released on the 30th of December, 2022 as a single from its single album “Spin Off: From the Witness” through KQ Entertainment, RCA and Legacy. The track was written by Eden, Buddy, Hongjoong, Mingi and others and was produced by Eden, Buddy, Peperoni, Oliv and many more. The Single album certified Platinum in South Korea. It received Accolades from Music Bank on the 6th of January, 2023. Also peaking at the number one spot on the South Korean Albums Charts and US World Albums Chart, number 7 on US Billboard 200 Chart.

FYI: On May 8, 2020, the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism named Ateez as its 2020 ambassador to help promote Korean culture and tourism abroad.

On September 14, 2020, Ateez were announced as ambassadors for Polished Man, an initiative raising funds for trauma prevention and recovery programs for young survivors of violence.

Ateez have sold over four million physical albums worldwide.

Currently, The band will embark on a world tour in support of the EP, titled The Fellowship: Break the World.

Two: Bouncy (K-Hot Chilli Peppers)

Off the bands EP “THE WORLD EP.2: OUTLAW” (2023), the single was released on the 16th of June, 2023 marking it their latest single release through KQ Entertainment, RCA Records, and Legacy Recordings. The official music video garnered 38M views on YouTube since the week of its release.  The song has also become a viral sensation on the popular social media platform, TitTok. It has peaked at the number one spot on South Korea Albums and US World Albums, Number Two spot on US Billboard 200, number 10 on UK Albums and many more.

  • In 2019, at the MTV Music Europe Awards, Ateez won the award for Best Korean Act.
  • At the Mubeat Awards, the song “Wonderland” won the Award for the category of Best Song in 2019.
  • At the 2020 Asia Model Awards and Golden Disc Awards, Ateez won the award for Popular Star Award in the male category and Next Generation Awards respectively
  • In 2022, the won the award for The Best Fandom and Rookie of the Year at the Forbes Korea Awards and Gaon Charts Music Awards respectively
  • In 2022, at The Fact Music Awards, they won the award in the category for Best Performer
  • Their accolades include Worldwide Fans’ Choice at the 2019 and 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards and bonsang awards (main prize) at the 4th Fact Music Awards and the 30th and 31st Seoul Music Awards.

One: Wonderland

Making it one of the bands biggest hit, garnering over 121M on its official music video on YouTube, “Wonderland” was released from the Album “Treasure EP.Fin: All to Action (2019)” on the 8th of October, 2019 through KQ Entertainment. The track was produced by Eden and written by Hoojong, Mingi, Eden and more. The track peaked at the number six spot on the US world Charts and At the Mubeat Awards, the song “Wonderland” won the Award for the category of Best Song in 2019.
