One of the opponents of Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Russia 2018 World Cup, Iceland, has named its 23-man squad for the tournament three weeks earlier than required by FIFA. The 23-man squad announced on Friday is made up of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders and four strikers.
Iceland, the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup and are placed in Group D with Argentina, Nigeria and Croatia. They will face the Super Eagles on June 22 in Volgograd after their first game against Argentina on June 16.
A list of 35 players is expected from Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr, next week before the 23-man list is sent to FIFA before the June 4 deadline.
