Russia 2018: Argentina releases 35-man provisional world cup squad

Argentina, one of the countries listed in group D with Nigeria in next months Russia 2018 World Cup has released its provisional 35-man squad for the World Cup. The list includes Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, an attacking duo named alongside captain Lionel Messi and the injured Sergio Aguero in head coach Jorge Sampaoli’s plans.

Icardi and Dybala have seen their chances of making the final World Cup squad cast into doubt since Sampaoli left them out of the group for the international friendlies in March.

Suggestions have it that Juventus star, Dybala will be part of the 23-man party heading to Russia, despite his form in the latter part of the season, while Inter striker Icardi is not expected to be included.

A knee injury kept Sergio Aguero out of Manchester City’s last six games of the Premier League season, but it is expected he will be fully fit for Russia 2018.

Zenit midfielder Matias Kranevitter has missed out on a place in the 35-man group, while there is no sign of veteran Carlos Tevez.

One of the group D teams, Iceland, has named its 23-man squad and it is expect that their group opponent, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be naming its 35-man provisional squad soon.
