Remove Unwanted Hair At Home (5 Natural Hair Removal)

Share

Waxing is the most expensive and most painful hair removal option you can go for, but many people would say it’s worth it.

Wax pulls hair from the root, leaving you with flawless results that last the test of time. Although it can be painful at first, a combination of reduced hair-growth and your skin becoming used to the process mean the pain does decrease over time.

Waxing may provide great results, but it’s both a costly and timely process, making it impractical for many of us.

Natural hair removal remedies

Believe it or not, there are some natural remedies that can slow down hair growth, reduce body hair, and even remove it completely.

We’ve rounded up 6 of the best below for you to try yourself, in the comfort of your own home.

1. Hair removal using sugar wax

Sugar wax has been used around the world for many years.

What exactly is sugar wax? Exactly what it says on the tin…only there is no tin because it’s completely homemade. In fact, you can whip up your own sugar wax at home using:

  • just 200g sugar
  • 60ml lemon juice
  • 60ml water

Method:

  1. Add the ingredients to a saucepan on the hob, and stir to combine. Begin to heat, slowly bringing the mixture to a boil.
  2. Once it boils, simmer the ingredients on a low-medium temperature, stirring frequently. Once the mixture has turned golden brown in colour, it’s time to remove the pan.
  3. Pour the ingredients into a jar and leave to cool for around 30 minutes.
  4. Spoon some wax into your hands, and roll it into a ball.
  5. Make sure the area of skin you want to remove hair from is clean and dry, then begin to spread the wax over it.
  6. Let it sit for a minute, then lift a corner of the sugar wax (enough to give you a good grip).
  7. Get ready…and rip the wax off in the opposite direction of your hair growth.
  8. Post-waxing, clean the area with warm water to remove any residue.

2. Natural hair removal at home using a pumice stone

Turns out there’s another use for your pumice stone that doesn’t involve feet at all (unless you have very hairy feet that is!) – natural hair removal.

The rough texture of a pumice stone is great at catching hairs and removing them from your skin. Plus, this is a 100% natural hair removal remedy.

To try it yourself, use a dry pumice stone on clean, dry skin in small circular motions. The pores will cling onto hairs and pull them out.

Be sure to moisturise afterwards, as the texture of a pumice stone also provides an exfoliating effect and may leave the skin dry.

3. Natural hair removal remedy using egg

Egg is not only extremely nutritious but has some useful properties when it comes to beauty too.

Perhaps you’ve seen egg dry before and noticed how it creates a film-like substance on the surface it sets on. It’s this power you’re going to harness when using egg for hair removal.

To try it yourself, you’ll need:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp cornflower

Method:

  1. Mix the ingredients together to combine, then apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin.
  2. Leave the mixture to set on your face (around 15-20 minutes). It should form a film.
  3. Begin to peel the mask off from the out in. The mask will not only extract impurities, but also lift light facial hair.

Egg is an inexpensive and gentle way of treating unwanted facial hair. Why not give this natural hair removal remedy a go today?

4. Remove unwanted hair using papaya paste

If you’re looking for a long-term solution, you may want to consider Papaya.

Although papaya won’t remove hair overnight, over time, a special enzyme called papain inside the fruit will weaken hair follicles, preventing re-growth.

Sound too good to be true? Try this natural hair removal remedy at home and see the results for yourself.

You’ll need:

  •  1-2 tbsp mashed, raw papaya flesh
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

Method:

  1. Mix together the papaya and turmeric to form a paste.
  2. Rub onto the skin liberally, massaging the mixture in so it reaches hair follicles.
  3. Leave for 15 minutes.
  4. Wash off with water.
  5. Repeat regularly to see a reduction in hair growth (2-3 times/week).

Papaya not only smells delicious but could be a permanent solution to your unwanted body hair too. Who’d have thought it!

5. How to remove hair at home using turmeric

Could this everyday spice be the answer to your facial hair?

Turmeric is a bright yellow, fragrant spice, often found in Indian recipes.

Outside of the kitchen, Indian women have used it for many years for all sorts of natural beauty remedies.

One such remedy is the removal of unwanted facial hair, and it’s surprisingly easy to do!

Want to try it?

  1. Mix 3 tsp turmeric powder with 1 tsp milk.
  2. Spread the paste onto the area of skin with unwanted facial hair in the same direction as hair growth.
  3. Leave until dry (about 20 minutes).
  4. Add a small amount of water to hands, wet the paste slightly, and begin to scrub the skin using small, circular motions.
  5. Wash with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Like papaya, turmeric paste must be used regularly to reduce the rate of hair growth over time.

Keep at it, and you’ll be facial-hair free in no time at all.
