On our #AOTW segment, American rapper ‘Kali’ takes the spotlight

Kaliya Ashley Ross, known professionally as Kali, born (July 29, 2000) in Atlanta, Georgia is an American rapper from Roswell, Georgia of Panamanian descent. She is noted for her songs poking fun at past partners and her carefree attitude. She began rapping at the age of 12 after an arrangement made with her father to write 13 songs in order to have her own bedroom.

Four: Do A Bitch

In November 2020, she received traction with the popularity of her track “Do a Bitch” on the social media platform TikTok. It garnered over 6.8M views on its official music video on YouTube. The song by Kali off her album “This is Why They Mad Now (2021)” was produced by Telly Ballord.

On the 16th of November 2021, she released the remix to her song “MMM MMM” with American rappers Latto and Moneybagg Yo. It garnered over 11M views on its official music video on YouTube. The song was produced by ATL Jacob and released through Atlantic Records. It was written by Kali, Moneybagg Yo, Latto and ATL Jacob.

Two: Standards

On March 8, 2022, she released her single “Standards” in the occasion of the International Women’s Day. The song garnered over 1.3M views on YouTube. It is off her album Toxic Chocolate” produced by Rikkdarulah and written by Shawn Stockman, Robert Carl Tate, John McGee and Kali. The song was released through Atlantic Records.

One: Area Codes

“Area Codes” is a song by American rapper Kali, released on March 17, 2023. Produced by Tate Kobang and YG! Beats, it interpolates the 2001 song of the same name by Ludacris featuring Nate Dogg. The song gained traction on the video-sharing platform TikTok, following which it became Kali’s first song to chart, peaking at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. On its official music video on YouTube, it has garnered over 14M views.
