Radio listeners can now see their favourite presenters in action

Radio listeners in Nigeria can now get to see their favourite local FM radio presenters as Nigerian Info 99.3 FM launches a visual radio in the country.

With this launch, another dimension has been introduced to the country’s broadcasting landscape as radio broadcasting will become more interactive for mobile radio listeners.

According to Chief Executive Officer of the radio network, Mr Serge Noujaim, this project is aimed at meeting the content of users on various platforms that are willing to consume content in a new form.

“We now live in an instant and content-hungry world. Modern radio must compete with multiple attention-grabbing sources, to engage, maintain and grow audiences. This must not be at the expense of making great radio. It should be an addition to it. And we are proud to be the first in Nigeria to do so,” Serge said.

A Visual Radio is meant to allow listeners the opportunity to watch their favourite local FM radio presenters in action on computers and mobile devices. This is a new form of radio broadcasting.

In recent time, almost all radio stations in the country have started deploying live streaming app such as PeriScope, Facebook Live among others to broadcast some of their major programmes. This strategy has increased their followership, especially among Millennials who are regarded as the mobile generation.

This development will make radio broadcasting more interactive and grow its listenership among the youth who are always attached to their mobile device.
