Police say body found wrapped in plastic in woods is missing chef Hiran Chauhan
A man whose body was found wrapped in plastic in the woods is believed to be a chef who vanished on his way home from work. Hiran Chauhan, 24, was last seen on Tuesday, July 2, after his shift at El Capo restaurant in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of his murder and he remains in custody for questioning. Mr Chauhan, from Seedley, Salford, finished work around 10.30pm and began making his way home with a friend. They both visited McDonald’s in Piccadilly Gardens before getting on a tram at St Peter’s Square.

He was found wrapped in plastic at about 8am in undergrowth amongst the trees in a remote wooded area closed to Eccles Old Road, Salford. The grim discovery was made by school children using the wood as a cut through. Police have issued an appeal for any video footage captured in the area as they try to identify the killer.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: ‘This is a tragic and shocking incident and our most heartfelt thoughts are with Hiran’s family at what is an unimaginably difficult time. ‘People in the Eccles Old Road area will continue to see an increased police presence while further enquiries are conducted. ‘We understand that this is a heinous incident and I’d like to reassure people that we have a team of highly-skilled detectives and forensics experts working on this case.
