A mum-of-two has been found dead in her flat – sparking a murder investigation.

 

Emergency services were called to Carol Milne’s ground-floor home in Aberdeen at 4.30am.

She was was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and murder detectives were called in to investigate.

Within hours, police said a man had been arrested in connection with the incident which they described as “contained”.

Neighbours talk about  their shock and said Carol and her husband Norman were a quiet couple who kept to themselves.

As police swarmed the area, searching gardens, grass verges and bins, neighbour Bill Davidson said he was stunned by what had happened.

Police have launched a murder investigation  
     He said Carol, who turned 59 on June 30, worked at a Marks & Spencer branch in nearby Bridge of Don.

Bill, 86, said one of her colleagues turned up on her doorstep when she had failed to appear for work yesterday.

He said: “A woman drove up because she was concerned Carol hadn’t turned up for work.

“She was very worried about her because it was so out of character. It’s a shock.

“Carol was nice. It’s not the kind of thing you expect to happen round here.”

Detectives have arrested a man in connection with the incident 

Carol married Norman, 57, in September 1988. The couple have two sons.Detective Inspector Gary Winter said: “Inquiries are ongoing and at a very early stage.

“I would like to take this opportunity to stress that there is no threat to the wider community.

“This appears to have been a contained incident, however there will be a significant police presence in the area while our investigation continues.”
