Fast rising Nigerian music artist Swazzi is a promising young star worthy of some accolades, the Enugu-born Afrobeat highlife specialist has featured Multiple Award pop singer Davido.
He caught the attention recently when his instagram account got the blue mark, in popular term when he ‘got verified’. In his words we were able to know more about the Je KO Balance crooner. See (@OfficialSwazzi).
My name is Okolo Miracle Obiechina. I hail from Ibeagwa Nike, Enugu State. I was born into a family of six and I am the first child. I was born in Enugu in 1996. Being the first child of my family posed a lot of challenges to me and made me leave my comfort zone to chase my dreams. Initially my Dad was not in support of me doing music until he realized that singing is a pathological inclination of mine and no one can stop me from doing it then he gave me full support. I studied accounting education.
Swazzi grew up in Enugu Nigeria, and started singing at the age of 10. He recorded his first song at 16 with Stormrex, which he shot the video in Lagos. According to him he came to Lagos with his Dad to feature stormrex and also shot the video. After that he returned to Enugu to complete his education then relocated to Lagos to chase his long time dream.
Professionally, he has released three singles so far and has worked with both international and local stars like Davido, Cabo snoop, Reminisce, Olamide, Dj Coublon etc. his first single ‘Elele’ was released in 2016 and was among the most played song in Nigeria at the time. A according to “playdata charts” it has over 60,000 views on YouTube. He followed it up with ‘Skolo’ produced by Dj Coublon which did far better and accepted across Africa. With over 500, 000 views on YouTube he got the attention of Cabo Snoop who jumped on it and they shot a video in Lagos. His third single Je KO Balance featured Davido, produced by vstix and is currently enjoying massive airplay. He is currently working on new songs with a few African stars, he said we should expect an Ep soon.
‘As a songwriter i write most of my songs and I also wrote Olamide and Cabo Snoop’s “Awaaa”.’
As an actor he featured in an upcoming movie about Music and Drugs alongside Dj Jimmy Jatt, Cabo Snoop,Vdj Adams, Charles Okocha etc titled “Mirage” and directed by Avalon Okpe. He also did a cameo appearance in Washer Man the Movie by Etinosa.
Apart from his music, Okolo has a fashion line launched in 2017 which he named LEBS, an acronym for ‘’Laced Exclusively By Swazzi’’
African Boy No.1 as he calls himself is ready to blow our mind away and give us a tune we will always love.
