Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been expressing his frustration with regards to his recent injury woes. The Senegal international spoke exclusively with Goal and went into some detail about how he copes while on the sidelines.

“Honestly, it is so hard for me to watch without being able to play. I get so nervous and can’t sit still. I am not even in my seat sometimes, I move one way, the other way. I really shake. It’s like I’m experiencing everything that’s happening in the game without being able to do anything. It’s crazy and I can’t explain it.”

Mane returned to Liverpool’s training centre recently after concerns were raised by Senegal’s medical staff. The enigmatic winger’s hamstrings have often caused worry for the Reds, and there was apparently a “slight re-occurrence” of his old injury. Mane has established himself as one of Liverpool’s most important players this season and has shown just how lethal he can be when fit and firing.

“Even now I ask myself how I can be so confident when I’m on the pitch, but if I have to just watch my team, I am filled with this worry. It is even worse if I am seeing the game at home on TV.”

“I really don’t like not being able to help my team-mates. It is tough because I always want to do all I can and when I can’t, I don’t know what to do with myself in these 90 minutes.”

Jurgen Klopp has spoken of his concern regarding Mane’s fitness and was coy when discussing his availability ahead of Liverpool’s home clash against Southampton at the weekend. Mane is evidently frustrated when out of action through injury and will be determined to feature when his old side come to town on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.
