Lionel Messi could miss Barcelona’s Champions league showdown against Inter Milan

Lionel Messi is in a race against time to get fit for Barcelona’s crucial Champions League tie against Inter Milan.

La Blaugrana captain was substituted in their home 2-1 win over Villarreal on Tuesday, September 24, due to a thigh injury.

The 32-year-old’s home debut was prematurely brought to an end after missing Barca’s first-four La Liga matches which they only managed to win two of them.

Messi made his first appearance of the season in their Champions League opener away at Dortmund and came off the bench in the 2-0 loss to Granada over the weekend.

In a statement mad by the club, it was revealed that the Argentine talisman strained a muscle in his left thigh.

A club statement said: “First team player Leo Messi has a strain in the adductor of his left thigh. He is out and his recovery will dictate his availability.”

Barcelona who are yet to record a win on their travels will be away to Getafe as they trail the likes of Real Madrid , Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Granada on the La Liga table.
