Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao born March 3, 1997, known professionally as Camila Cabello, is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter.

 

She rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, formed on The X Factor USA in 2012, signing a joint record deal with Syco Music and Epic Records. While in Fifth Harmony, Cabello began to establish herself as a solo artist with the release of the collaborations “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes, and “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly, the latter reaching number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. After leaving the group in late 2016, Cabello released several other collaborations, including “Hey Ma” by Pitbull and J Balvin for The Fate of the Furious soundtrack, and her debut solo single “Crying in the Club” which is our number 4 song.

Crying in the Club. The song was released on May 19, 2017. It was written by Cabello, Sia, Benny Blanco and produced by Blanco, Happy Perez and Cashmere Cat. The song samples Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle”. A mid-tempo tropical pop and dance track, it was originally intended to be the lead single of Cabello’s debut studio album, which was originally titled The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. It was later removed from the track listing and featured on the Side A of the 7-inch eponymous extended play released on July 14, 2017. The song reached number three in Bulgaria, as well as the top forty in eleven additional countries. “Crying in the Club” is certified Platinum in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Italy. Cabello’s debut studio album, Camila (2018), reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The Latin music-influenced pop album was well received by critics, and received a Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Its lead single “Havana” topped the charts in several countries including the US and UK, and follow-up single “Never Be the Same” reached the top 10 in multiple countries. Cabello’s 2019 duet with Mendes, “Señorita”, became her second single to top the Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album, Romance (2019), peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and number one in Canada. Cabello is set to star in an upcoming film adaptation of Cinderella (2021), for Sony Pictures.

 

Cabello has amassed billions of streams on music platforms. She has the best-selling digital single of 2018 according to International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Cabello has won many awards throughout her career, including two Latin Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and one Billboard Music Award. She has also received three Grammy Award nominations. No. 3: OMG feat. Quavo It was released on August 3, 2017 as a promotional single alongside “Havana, from her debut studio album Camila (2018), originally titled “The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. “OMG” was ultimately removed from the final track listing. The song was written by Cabello, Charli XCX, Noonie Bao, Sasha Sloan, Quavo and its producers Stargate. “OMG” has a slow, trap production that is characterized by use of double hi-hat rolls, flute flows and a smooth bass. In the lyrics, Cabello praises the appearance of her love interest while Quavo responds to her affirmation in his verses, where he also added a line from his Migos’s song “Bad and Boujee” (2016). The song was included as part of Cabello’s set list for Bruno Mars’s 24K Magic World Tour, where she served as an opening act. Music critics complimented the track’s club-friendly sound while others perceived Cabello’s versatility for performing verses written by Charli XCX as well as her dynamic with Quavo. On its first full tracking-week, “OMG” entered the top 100 on charts from several countries, including the U.S, UK, Scotland, Australia and Portugal. It was most successful in Spain, where it reached a peak of 16, spending two consecutive weeks on chart. In Canada, “OMG” received a platinum certification for 80,000 copies sold in the country. As of January 2019, its audio video has reached 100 million views on YouTube.

 

Cabello was in a relationship with dating coach and writer Matthew Hussey, whom she met on the set of Today. They dated from February 2018 to June 2019. Since July 2019, she has been dating Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. The relationship has garnered controversy, as both were accused of attempting to form a relationship for publicity, while Mendes denied it stating it is “definitely not a publicity stunt”. Cabello has also opened up about having anxiety and obsessive–compulsive disorder. Cabello currently resides in a Mediterranean-style villa in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

 

No. 2: Señorita” is a song by Canadian singer Shawn Mendes and Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello. It was released as the second single (seventh overall) from the deluxe edition of Mendes’ self-titled third studio album through Island Records on June 21, 2019. It is also included on Cabello’s second studio album Romance (2019). The song was written by Mendes, Cabello, Charli XCX, Ali Tamposi, Jack Patterson, and its producers Andrew Watt, Benny Blanco, and Cashmere Cat. The song marks Mendes and Cabello’s second collaboration, following “I Know What You Did Last Summer” from Mendes’ debut album, Handwritten (2015). “Señorita” reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as thirty-five other countries. It is certified multiplatinum in thirteen countries, including Diamond in France, Mexico, and Poland. The single has won an American Music Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, a People’s Choice Award, and received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The song was the biggest song of 2019 in Malaysia and according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), it was the third best-selling single of 2019 worldwide, with combined sales and track-equivalent streams of 16.1 million units globally.

 

Controversy: In December 2019, Tumblr posts she reblogged between 2012 and 2013 surfaced on Twitter, containing racial slurs and derogatory language including the N-word, and mocking of Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna in 2009. Her Tumblr account was deactivated soon after the discovery and Cabello issued an apology stating she was “uneducated and ignorant” when younger, and that she was deeply embarrassed she ever used “horrible and hurtful” language. In her statement, she added that “those mistakes don’t represent” her and that she “only [stands] and [has] ever stood for love and inclusivity”.

No. 1: Havana Feat. Young Thug – It was released on August 3, 2017, along with “OMG”, from her solo debut album, Camila (2018). In August 2017, it was released as a promotional single, then was serviced to radio on September 8, 2017 as the album’s lead single. Due to its rising success, “Havana” later became the official lead single of Camila, replacing “Crying in the Club”. “Havana” reached number one in multiple countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the U.S., also reaching the top 10 of several other countries. Its music video, directed by Dave Meyers, shows Cabello playing herself as Karla, as well as a telenovela actress and a film protagonist. It won the Video of the Year award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, receiving three other nominations. Cabello performed “Havana” at several award shows, including the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards, and 2018 Billboard Music Awards. In September 2018, Cabello released a live version of the song featuring her solo performance. The live version of the song would later be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. It was the best-selling digital single of 2018 according to International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), with equivalent sales of 19 million units worldwide.
