How Mikel Obi snubbed Lampard’s call to join Derby County

Report has it that Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi snubbed a call from his former teammate at Chelsea, Frank Lampard, who requested he joined him at Derby County.

Mikel recently completed a move from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda to Middlesbrough. He did his medicals on Monday and has been handed the number 12 shirt. He is expected to be unveiled today.

Daily Star UK reports that Frank Lampard pleaded with Mikel Obi to join Derby County which he manages, but the Nigerian opted to help Championship side Middlesbrough fight to ensure that Premier League football returns to their city.
