But rather than tap into their knowledge, especially of the demands of English football, Sarri has stuck stubbornly to what he knows and his Sarri-ball philosophy.
That won him admirers at Napoli but, crucially, no trophies.
And with his methods no longer producing results his stars have found it harder and harder to follow their under-fire leader.
