Fastest growing Ghanaian artiste ‘Kidi’ sits on our #AOTW

This week, we are taking a flight to Ghana to chow down on some “musical banku” as we spotlight one of Ghana’s Fastest growing Artiste “Kidi”…

 

Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, born August 18, 1993. He is a Ghanaian high-life and afrobeats singer-songwriter producer. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment , MadeInENY, EMPIRE and is best known for his hit single ‘Ɔdɔ’. The remix features Nigerian superstars Mayorkun and Davido and has received massive airplay across Africa. KiDi won the Highlife Song of the Year for his hit single ‘Ɔdɔ at the 2018 Ghana Music Awards. He then went on to win the Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Music Awardsand Album of the Year for his debut album Sugar at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards.

 

No. 4. Odo (Remix) ft Mayorkun & Davido: Released in 2017 and produced by Kidi himself, the song Features vocals and verses from Nigerian Industry key players; Davido and mayorkun. The original song was nominated for a lot of awards and won the category of the Highlife song of the year at the 2017 4syte Music Video awards.

 

While studying Economics and Information Studies at the University of Ghana, KiDi’s love for music led him to perform on various “Moonlight Café” platforms – a production that supports underground artistes and gives them a platform to display their talents. He also recorded covers of popular songs. In 2015, KiDi took a leap of faith by joining the MTN Hitmaker competition. He went on to win the competition and was later signed to Lynx Entertainment.

 

No. 3. Fakye Me (Forgive Me) ft Medikal: Off the album “sugar” and released in 2019. The song was nominated and also won the best male vocal performance at the 2019 3Music Awards. It has over 1.9 million views on YouTube.

 

No. 2. Touch It: Off the “Golden Boy Album” this song serves as one of his latest hits released in 2021. In just two months it has garnered over 3.4million views on Youtube.

No. 1. Say Cheese: Afrobeat/Afropop song of the year at the 2021 Vodaphone Ghana Music Awards.  The song is arguably one of his biggest hits and trended on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 songs upon its release. Produced by Kayso and off the “Blue” EP. It was also nominated for most popular song of the year at the same award but didn’t win. It currently has over 4.7 million views on YouTube.
