Eye twitching is a common issue, and for most people it’s just a minor, passing annoyance. Usually, it’s a sign you need sleep, less caffeine or some downtime to relax. But if it starts to affect your vision or interfere with your regular activities, it could be more serious. Fortunately, there are steps you can, and should, take to address it.

Benign essential blepharospasm
This chronic condition causes both eyes to twitch uncontrollably at the same time.

Eyestrain
Eyestrain from reading, watching television, or using smartphones or computer screens and too much exposure to lights.

Medical conditions
Certain psychiatric conditions like depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

fatigue
Such as bright lights, dry eye and sickness can cause eye twitching
