A cleric, Oladele Ayuba, has been arrested for advanced fee fraud, after reportedly tricking unsuspecting victims of amounts ranging from N300,000 to N36 million.
Ayuba was paraded alongside two other suspects for offences ranging from obtaining by false pretence to illegal possession of counterfeit money and vandalism of transformer by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ondo State Command.

The Corps Commandant, Pedro Ideba, gave the names of the other two suspects as Abiodun Oluwaseun and Jayeola Tosin. On the cleric’s case, Pedro said: “Ayuba was arrested following a complaint by one of his victims, Tajudeen Ekundayo, who lost N4,300,000 to him. “Immediately the complaint was lodged at the Command headquarters, my men swung into action and arrested the man, who is the kingpin of a syndicate in Arigidi Akoko, while other members of the syndicate are still at large.” Pedro added that so many criminal activities ranging from kidnapping to ritual killing and fraud have been traced to the cleric, who hails from Ilorin, Kwara State. Also paraded was one Oluwaseun, who specialised in printing and spending counterfeit Naira. He was arrested after using N24,000, in fake N1,000 denomination, to buy goods from one provision seller. Pedro said the woman reported the case to the command and the men of the Corps trailed the syndicate and arrested one of them, while others are still at large.
