Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong (born 9 January 2002) known professionally as Black Sherif is a Ghanaian musician and performer from Konongo, Ghana. He completed Kumasi Academy for his second cycle education and is currently a student of University of Professional Studies (UPSA).

This song basically seeks to make the youth aware of the positivity of being a loner and the essence of being self-motivated in their quest to reach success even in the midst of rejection and failed promises.

Black Sherif’s iconic performance at the 3Music awards show has become the newest viral sensation across social media. He performed at the final of the 2021 MTN FA Cup final match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Ashanti Gold SC. In May 2022, Black Sherif together with Stonebwoy, Amaarae, and Smallgod met Kendrick Lamar when he visited Ghana and held a private album listening party in Accra for his new album, “Mr.Morales & The Big Steppers.”

Garnered 2.9M views on his official video on YouTube. This song was released on the 31st March 2022. His single titled “Kwaku the Traveller” reached number 1 on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts marking the first time a Ghanaian solo artist had achieved the feat.

Controversy

On 11 April 2022, a lawsuit was filed against Black sheriff for alleged breach of contract. The lawsuit stems from allegations that Black Sherif ignored his investor after he invested in his career. Again, Black Sherif is said to have signed a distribution agreement with Empire Music without his investor’s permission, despite the fact that he allegedly had a business management contract with him. His investor, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, the CEO of Waynes Chavis Consult is seeking the court to restrict Black Sherif from performing at events without his authorization.

 

One: Second sermon (Remix) feat. Burna Boy

This video garnered 6.1M views for its official video on YouTube. He gained mainstream acclaim with his street anthem “Second Sermon” which was released in July 2021 then featured the African Giant Himself, Burna Boy on the remix. The remix was released on the 7th of December,2021 and has remained an Anthem both in Ghana, NIGERIA and other parts of the world. This song won the Hip hop song of The Year, Song of the Year(Second Sermon)  for 3Music Awards, Best Hip pop Song (Second Sermon) for Ghana Music Awards.
