The 23-year-old, who signed for the Blues from Monaco this summer, was driving along Blundel Lane near their Cobham facility at around 3.30pm when the incident happened. Police were called to the scene this afternoon, after the French international was travelling towards Oxshott, Surrey, when the incident happened. It is understood nobody else was involved. Chelsea paid Monaco £40million for Bakayoko close to transfer deadline day, handing him a five-year contract.

The Sun understands that Bakayoko had a minor accident, but he did not suffer any significant injuries, and he is now back at home resting. Bakayoko was one of Antonio Conte’s top transfer targets all summer and the Italian was understandably delighted to have landed his man. It did look touch-and-go for the Blues at one stage when Manchester United reportedly joined the race for Bakayoko’s signature.
