#AOTW: Secular Songs with the title ’Holy’

It’s that time of the year when we celebrate our Christian brothers and sisters. So, we start off with secular songs with the title ‘Holy’.

 

No. 4. Holy Grail – Jay-z feat. Justine Timberlake: A song by American rapper Jay-Z from his twelfth studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail. It features vocals from American singer Justin Timberlake and serves as the album’s first single. It was produced by The-Dream, Timbaland and J-Roc, with additional production from No ID and contains elements of Nirvana’s 1991 hit single “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The song charted in many regions, entering at number eight and reaching number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as charting at number seven on the UK Singles Chart. “Holy Grail” has sold over 3.4 million copies in the United States as of 2018.

Jay-z: Shawn Corey Carter (born December 4, 1969), known professionally as Jay-Z is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, businessman, and media proprietor. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists in history[7] and is also well known for being the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings, cultivating major industry artists such as Kanye West, Rihanna, and J. Cole.

 

No. 3. Holy Holy – 2baba: Released in 2017, it won The Headies Award for Best Reggae/Dancehall Single. Its official video has over 1.7million views on youtube.

2Baba: Innocent Ujah Idibia (born 18 September 1975), known by his stage name 2Baba, is a Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, and activist. Prior to July 2014, he went by the stage name 2face Idibia. He is one of the most decorated and successful Afro pop artists in Africa. 2Baba is the first winner of MTV Europe, Best African Act Award in 2015.

 

No. 2. Holy Father – Mayorkun feat. Vict0ny: Released as a single off his latest album lBack in Office”. The song peaked at number one on the Apple music Top 100 songs for Nigeria for the 1st of November, 2021. It was produced by Semzi.

Mayorkun; Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel (born 23 March 1994), known professionally as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and pianist.[1] He released a cover of Davido’s “The Money” single and was discovered by the singer on Twitter.[2] Mayorkun was signed to Davido’s record label DMW from 2016 to 2021; his debut single “Eleko” was released under the label.

No. 1. Holy – Justin Bieber feat. Chance the rapper

“Holy” is a song by Canadian singer Justin Bieber, featuring vocals from American rapper Chance the Rapper. It was released on September 18, 2020, as the lead single off Bieber’s sixth studio album, Justice (2021). It was produced by Bellion, Brown, Odegard, Franks, and  Pollack.  It also has writing credits to bellion’s name. The song has been certified 2x Platinum in Australia and Gold in Belgium.

Justin Drew Bieber (/biːbər/; born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer. He was discovered by American record executive Scooter Braun and signed with RBMG Records in 2008, gaining recognition with the release of his debut seven-track pop EP My World (2009) and soon establishing himself as a teen idol.
