Alec Shane Benjamin (born May 28, 1994) is an American singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. Benjamin primarily writes and sings songs in English but has versions of his songs in Mandarin Chinese. Benjamin was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but lived on Long Island, New York during kindergarten and first grade. He has a sister for whom he wrote his song “If We Have Each Other”. In a brief interview, Benjamin said he has been influenced by Eminem, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Paul Simon, and Chris Martin of Coldplay.
Four: Let me Down Slowly
His 2018 breakthrough single “Let Me Down Slowly” was originally released as a solo version in 2018. It garnered over 423M views on its official video on YouTube. The song was produced by Sir Nolan, with additional production by Aaron Z, and co-written by Benjamin with Michael Pollack and Sir Nolan. It reached the top 40 in over 25 countries and it has amassed over 1 billion streams on Spotify as of April 2022. Warner Music Canada presented Benjamin with his first Platinum award plaque for his hit “Let Me Down Slowly,” which was first certified Gold in Canada in December of 2018.

Benjamin has also co-written songs for artists such as Jon Bellion, and has a songwriting credit on the track “New York Soul (Part II)” from Bellion’s album The Human Condition.
He promoted his music by performing in parking lots outside of concert venues and handing out business cards.
Benjamin is Known for his honesty and vulnerability in his songwriting and his support of mental health awareness. He also stated in separate interviews that he has social anxiety and OCD.

Off his most recent album “(Un)Commentary” which was released in April 2022, The official Music Video garnered over 9.3 M views on YouTube. He also has a version of this song in Mandarin, Chinese. “Devil Doesn’t Bargain” although did not enter the Single Top 100, but reached number 11 on its extension, the Single Tip. It peaked at number 30 on Norway’s chart and number 95 on the UK singles Chart.
