Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn known professionally as Future, is an American rapper and singer. He was born on November 20, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Columbia High School in Decatur. At age sixteen (c. 1999/2000), Future describes getting shot in the hand and robbed, an event he regards as a major turning point in his life. Known for his mumble-styled vocals and prolific output, Future is considered a pioneer of the use of Auto-Tuned melodies in trap music. Future began his career under the name Meathead, as a member of the Georgia-based musical collective Dungeon Family. Due to the sustained popularity of this musical style, he is commonly regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation. Future is the unmarried father of seven children by his account, each with different women, although another child paternity has been litigated. Future makes prevalent use of Auto-Tune in his songs, both rapping and singing with the effect.

Four: Mask Off
Mask Off serves as Future biggest hit and it’s from his eponymous fifth studio album Future (2017). The track was later released as the second single after initially charting as an album track. It garnered over 1.6B streams on spotify and over 618M views on it’s Official Music Video on YouTube. It was produced by Metro Boomin, and written by Future and Tommy Butler. The official remix features a guest appearance from fellow American rapper Kendrick Lamar. Mask Off was Future highest- charting single, peaking at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100, until the releases of Life Is Good
(2020), Way 2 Sexy (2021), Wait for U (2022), and Like That (2024).

Three: Life is Good ft. Drake
Life Is Good is a song by American rapper Future featuring Canadian rapper Drake. It was released on January 10, 2020, and later confirmed to be the third single from the former eighth studio album High Off Life. It garnered over 2.1B views on it’s official music video on YouTube, It debuted and peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became the first song ever to spend its first eight weeks at that position.

Two: Ski
Serving one of the song from Future latest album, Mixtape Pluto, Ski was released on the 20th of September 2024. The dynamic contrast between the intro and the rest of the song is one of the most striking elements of Ski. It showcases Future versatility as an artist. This song was produced by Southside, Seattle and Gedo. Ski has garnered over 590k views on it’s official audio on YouTube.

Controversy

In 2016, Future was sued by both Jessica Smith and Ciara. Smith sued him for failing to pay child support, stating their son suffers from emotional and behavioral issues stemming from Future neglect as a father, while Ciara sued him for defamation, slander, and libel.

One: Wait for U ft. Drake and Tems
The song by Future featuring Canadian rapper Drake and Nigerian singer Tems is callled Wait for U. It was released as the second single from Future ninth studio album, I Never Liked You, on May 3, 2022. It garnered over 870M streams on spotify and over 94M views on it’s Official Music Video on YouTube. Wait for U is an R&B song that lyrically discusses the occasional toxicity of a romantic relationship. The song samples Tems song Higher, from her debut extended play, For Broken Ears (2020). The song
debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Future second (first as a lead artist), Drake tenth, and Tems first number-one hit on the Hot 100, and peaked within the top 10 of the charts in many other countries, including Canada, United Kingdom and New Zealand. Wait for U received two nominations at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards: Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance, winning the latter.
