As the year has come to an end so should your unhealthy lifestyle come to an end too. This new year, let’s all learn to make a resolution by having a healthy lifestyle. As it is, most people only see a doctor when they’re dying or when they’re sick but this is not supposed to be so. Let’s be deliberate about our health status, that way we can ward off unnecessary stress and illness. And to do that, Here are four tips on healthy daily living.

 

1. Get a good night’s sleep: Getting a good night’s sleep is very important for maintaining a healthy life. It is even more important especially before you get a health check-up as the amount of sleep may impact your blood pressure and heart rate. Not getting good or enough sleep will leave you prone to sickness and even a night at the hospital bed if not careful. Try to get 7-8 hours of sound sleep.

 

2. Eat fruits and Greens: Even if you don’t have the appetite to eat anything solid, try to eat fruits. Fruits are incredible food that provides many health benefits. They are also rich in nutrients that are good for the brain, digestion and for preventing diseases. Also, eating at least a portion of green vegetable daily is a great way to get yourself healthier.

 

3. Consume less salt, sugar and fatty foods: According to an article by WHO published on the 31st of December 2019 , Most people get their sodium through salt but mist of the time, they’ve a bit excessive. Try to reduce your salt intake and avoid salty snacks, anything with high amount of salt in it.  Same goes with the consumption of sugar. Excessive amount of sugar increases the risk of tooth decay and unhealthy weight gain both in adults and children. Limit the intake of anything sugary. Also, According to an article by REDHEAL, Salty and fatty foods elevate your blood pressure and interfere with other assessments. So make do away with salty, fatty and sugary foods to live healthier.

 

4. Have regular check-ups: Having regular check ups will help you stay on top of your health status and help find health issues before they become a problem. Getting a Medical check-up regularly is a foolproof way to stay one step ahead in leading a healthy and disease-free lifestyle. By having these check ups, Health professionals can help find and diagnose health issues early, when your chances for treatment and cure are better.
