What is the Immune System?

It is a complex network of cells and proteins that defends the body against infection. The immune system keeps a record of every germ (microbe) it has ever defeated so it can recognize and destroy the microbe quickly if it enters the body again.

The below signs show your immune system is weak:
– High Stress Levels
– Colds and catarrh
– Tummy Troubles
– Wounds Are Slow to Heal
– Frequent Infections
– Tiredness always

Speaking about boosting the immune system, here are 4 ways we can achieve this:

1. Maintain a healthy diet: As much as junk foods are sweet and amazing to eat, they’re not healthy for the body and they cannot help to boost your immune system. You need to strive to maintain a healthy and a balanced diet, eat more of fruits, vegetables and protein. In reference to an article made by CDC, maintaining a healthy diet doesn’t just boost your immune system, it helps to lower the risk of heart diseases, helps you achieve a healthy weight amongst other things.

2. Exercise regularly: According to Houston Methodist, physical activity isn’t just for building muscles and helping yourself de-stress , it’s also helps out in building a healthy immune system. If you can not do those rigorous exercises like lifting those weights in the gym like Dimeji does, you can take a walk for a long distance, jogging too and not just doing it once it a week and rest, try to make it a constant habit that way your immune system can be healthy and strong.

3. Hydrate: You don’t need a doctor or anybody to tell you to stay hydrated. Drink water! You should always have a bottle of water with you at all times. Water is literally a live saver after God that is. Even if you’re not exercising or sweating, you’re constantly losing water through your breath, as well as through your urine and bowel movements so it is advisable to support your immune system by staying hydrated.

4. Get plenty of sleep: One thing I don’t joke with is my sleep. You should have suitable amount of time to sleep. If you work at night, get some sleep in the daytime, if you work during morning hours, get some sleep at night when you’re back from work. You should at least have 8 hours of sleep in a day and studies have shown that people who don’t get enough quality sleep are more prone to getting sick.

Please remember to see a doctor should you keep experiencing symptoms of a weak immune system.
