Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, on Tuesday warned politicians against making hate speeches in the country.

The Sultan told the Nigerian political elite that rather than propagating hate speech that portends danger to democracy, they should provide the dividend of democracy to the people.

Abubakar stated this at the annual pre-Ramadan lecture of the JNI, which held at the JNI Headquarters, Kawo, Kaduna State on Tuesday.

He expressed concerns over the attitude of the political class in the land.

Specifically, the Sultan expressed concern about happenings in Kaduna State and called on the politicians in the state to stop making hate speeches forthwith.

Earlier in his address, the Secretary General of JNI, Dr. Khalid Abubakar, called on the Muslim community to uphold the tenets of Islam during the Ramadan.

The JNI scribe called on Muslim preachers to be cautious about the movement of Shia to Abuja and its environs, noting that they no longer use their black attire but disguise into the community.

He also urged the Muslim community to be vigilant about security within their environment.
