Nigerian Author Tomi Adeyemi Tweeted yesterday “it would be nice if an artist could create something special without another artist trying to shamelessly profit off it”, implying that Renowned Writer Nora Roberts is trying to profit off her work titled “Children Of Blood And Bone”.

However, several Twitter users reacted to this claim. We captured some reactions below:
Can keep going if you want sha Miss Adeyemi. pic.twitter.com/NgX9K0AgpD

Just gonna say there are other books out there called blood and bone as well. That have been out there before you published. pic.twitter.com/1qwdLl9uoo

No offence but I have been reading Nora Roberts since the early 80s. She is a multimillionaire many times over. Her books have been made into movies. She doesn’t need anything from someone who has written perhaps 3 books. This is apples and oranges.

I saw this earlier today while trying to find new books to read and I was like uhhhh…. what the hell? pic.twitter.com/0yxY3a75ds

You are being petty. It is not enough to be great? Sit on your throne as a published author and quit throwing stones. I say this as someone who is reading YOUR book right now and recommending it to students.

Your cover outshines hers by miles.

SMH.
Should have called her book Year 2 pic.twitter.com/2RP9aiue17— Mari Copeny (@LittleMissFlint) November 27, 2018
Nora Roberts: *has over 200 books, multiple pen names, name recognition in her genre*
Tomi Adeyemi: *debuts with an amazing fantasy story*
Nora Roberts managers or someone: "Oh we're THREATENED."Unbelievable.

Ummm WHAT?! The font is pretty much identical? And the layout? ?
Like its designed so that people see the title and think it's your book, just to get them to pick it up. It majorly sucks, but that cover will never compare to the stunning beauty of CBB!!!— Elise Longden (@EliseLongden) November 27, 2018
I’m so sorry, but this isn’t how any of this works. Children of Blood and Bone only pubbed a few months before the Nora Roberts book. Totally different punishers. The art departments of different publishers don’t share their work with each other. Blood and Bone is a common title.

Idk, there’s a lot of titles with that phrase.. pic.twitter.com/JM7SNyE9zX

This is a book that was published in 2012. It's not even that Malazan is some tiny series with a small readership. Malazan is quite popular among fans of high and epic fantasy.
So did you steal the title from Mr. Esslemont here? ? pic.twitter.com/sJGWhJg1gC

Titles including 'of blood and bone' are common, but this goes a bit too far. Do you have the same publisher who's just trying to cash in twice?
— Alice in Quantumland (@AliceQuantum) November 27, 2018
I'm not sure the Nora we know would do this. Probably just a coincidence. Please make enquiries and be sure an artist really copied your work before coming at them on social media.
— Bonet Ezra Daniel (@MR_BED1) November 28, 2018
I totally agree this is too close to be a coincidence. But I have to admit that when I read CoBaB I actually thought that title was WAY to similar to Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The only way to avoid this is to come up with a completely original title. pic.twitter.com/aO2BxgWW8c

This does it for me. Your book is really awesome but you know who Nora Roberts is? My keyboard has her name on my predictions
— Okeoghene (@JellyAcidic) November 28, 2018
As much as i want to be on your side Tomi. I believe there is no plagiarism here, "Children of Blood & Bone" & "Of Blood & Bone", The word 'Children' makes a big difference in the meaning of the titles. But if you still think there is, you can sue her.
— Weird Tyler (@weird_tyler) November 28, 2018
yeah there are other books called ‘blood and bone’ but this is called ‘OF blood and bone’ which seems too specifically similar to be a coincidence. why not call it just ‘blood and bone’ or ‘[another preposition] blood and bone’
— Pauline ? (@CombatOstrich) November 28, 2018
So many titles have “Blood and Bone” or something similar? And the covers look nothing alike. You don’t own the phrase, or the metaphor.
Nora Roberts is one of the biggest names in the publishing industry and has published over 200 books. I don’t think there was malicious intent.— Katie Spadafora (@kspad20) November 28, 2018
Let me guess they stole your idea too? ? pic.twitter.com/7cWsUqatb4
— Sarah ? (@magicxtales) November 28, 2018
But isn’t Nora Roberts book title like a continuation of her first book? The One… Of Blood and Bone.
Could be wrong. Doesn’t calling it out just pique the notice of other people and give Roberts’ book the advertising they wanted?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ?— Heath ? (@bookwormheath) November 28, 2018
We await Nora Roberts’ response.
