Ednut said Nigerian celebrities are too proud to acknowledge common compliments of their works on social media.
Comedian and singer Tunde Ednut has called out pop star Wizkid and other Nigerian celebrities, accusing them of being arrogant.
He stated this in reaction to US superstar singer Rihanna‘s acknowledgment of some Nigerian kid dancers on Instagram.
Rihanna had shared a video of the dance group dancing to Wizkid and DJ Spinall‘s ‘Nowo’ in celebration of her crossing two billion worldwide streams on Apple Music.
The post unsurprisingly went viral, giving the kids and the song a major push.
In appreciation, the kids did a post thanking Rihanna for the unintentional promotion.
“Thank you Rihanna. We love you”, the kids wrote on a cardboard.
The record-breaking singer again acknowledged the kids in another post.
“awww my Lil squad…..I love YOU guys! I speak on behalf of the entire social media when I say this… you really brought a pure joy to our spirits just by seeing how happy you are when you dance! You personally made my day! Keep up the great work kids! ❤️ (see previous post)”,Rihanna wrote.
Ednut, however, said Nigerian celebrities would ignore such gesture despite the fact that they do have a quarter of the followers and fanbase Rihanna possesses.
