Tottenham will be without Harry Kane for at least the next six weeks after the striker injured his ankle ligaments in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United. The striker hobbled off the field after the final whistle at Wembley after a collision with Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof. Kane was seen out near his Essex home today on crutches and wearing a protective boot but Spurs had to wait until the swelling went down on his ankle to take a clear scan of the injury. Spurs released a statement on Tuesday evening to confirm that the injury will keep Kane out for at least six weeks and they believe he will resume training by ‘early March’.
‘Following preliminary assessments, we can confirm that Harry Kane has damaged ligaments in his left ankle, sustained during Sunday’s match,’ the statement read. ‘He will continue to be monitored by our medical staff as he commences rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in early March.’
Kane will miss the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against Chelsea, whilst he’s definitely ruled out of league fixtures against Leicester, Newcastle and Fulham. Spurs will be desperate to get the 25-year-old back for the north London derby on March 2nd, while the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against Dortmund is just four days later. The injury could not come at a worse time for Spurs, who will be without Heung-Min Son for the next month as he’s competing in the Asian Cup.
