Arsenal and Chelsea are in Europa League action this evening with both sides targeting a place in the final four of the competition.
The Gunners have been handed a tough draw against Serie A giants Napoli, with the Blues coming up against Slavia Prague with a semi-final spot at stake.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are the current favourites to lift the trophy in Azerbaijan next month and they will certainly be going all out to win it as it does offer a route into next season’s Champions League.
Unai Emery does also have a very good record in the competition and the Gunners certainly cannot be overlooked, although they have a tougher route if they want to make the final in Baku.
So, how far will each side go in the Europa League?
According to FiveThirtyEight’s supercomputer, the Blues, unsurprisingly, have a much better chance of triumphing in the competition for the second time in seven years.
Chelsea have a 95% chance of reaching the semi-finals, with a place in the showpiece finale at 60%.
The Blues then lead the way with a 35% chance of winning the final at present.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have a 49% chance of progressing through to the next round to then play either Valencia or Villarreal.
Emery’s side are then at 27% to reach the final, with the chance of victory in Baku currently at 13%, the same as quarter-final opponents Napoli.
The supercomputer has Valencia as the second favourites for the Europa League at present at 15%.
