President Muhammadu Buhari has again rescheduled the visit of the silver winning home based Eagles
President Muhammadu Buhari has again postponed the scheduled visit of the players and officials of the Super Eagles who got to the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The President was initially scheduled to host the Silver winning team at Aso Rock for their efforts at the tournament, immediately upon their arrival.
The visit however was postponed for Wednesday, February 7, 2018, which it did not eventually take place as it had to be postponed again till Wednesday, February 28.
The CHAN team coordinator Patrick Pascal said, “They didn’t give us any reason for the postponement but we are hopeful that it will hold next week as planned,”
“The reception will take place next week Wednesday as against today which was earlier announced.”
According to a Complete Sports report, the Eagles will not be hosted by the president on Wednesday, February 28, as their visit has again been postponed till further notice.
The Lagos State government plans to also host the CHAN team but will only happen on the conclusion of their visit to the Prseident.
A key member of the CHAN Eagles team confirmed another postponement in the report.
He said, “We have been informed that the reception by the President (Muhammadu Buhari) will not hold again tomorrow,”
The midfielder who scored against Rwanda in the group stage confirmed that no time has been set for another visit.
“They said the President has a busy schedule at the moment and there is no way the reception can hold now.
“We don’t know the new date yet, as they only told us it has been put off till further notice. We can only hope it will not be too long.” He said
The Super Eagles won the Silver medal at the 2018 African Nations Championship, where they lost 4 – 0 to hosts Morocco in the final.
