A murder investigation is underway after the 39-year-old suspect’s charred remains was found in a village in Limpopo, South Africa

A suspected rapist who was accused of attacking a disabled teenager was burnt alive by a vigilante mob.
A murder hunt is underway after the 39-year-old man’s charred remains were found by police who were called to Muhovhoya village in Limpopo, South Africa.
Local media say villagers had accused the man of raping the 17-year-old girl while she was collecting fire wood.
Police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the girl was with a group of women when the man approached them.
They managed to run away except for the girl who was then allegedly attacked.

Limpopo police commissioner Lt-Gen Nneke Ledwaba has called on communities to respect the law instead of taking matters into their own hands.
He warned: “Those who still participate in these barbaric acts will be dealt with harshly and without compromise.
