She gained worldwide recognition as fierce character Sansa Stark in the epic fantasy drama Game Of Thrones
And while the show served as her professional acting debut, Sophie Turner admitted she didn’t tell her parents when she auditioned for the HBO series back in 2009.
In a new interview with Vogue Magazine alongside her Dark Phoenix co-star Jessica Chastain, the actress, 23, revealed her mum Sally was ‘freaked out’ at first, but was later persuaded by her husband Andrew to let their daughter live out her dream.
However, when the talented screen star made the final seven, she admitted her mum ‘freaked out’.
The blonde beauty elaborated: ‘My parents found out when I was in the final seven, and then my mom kind of freaked out, and she called my dad and said, “I don’t know if we can do this.”
‘But my dad said, “Shut up, this is what she has wanted her whole life. You have to let her give it a go.”‘
Sophie went on to recall how once she had landed the role, she and her mother celebrated with a pizza pool party.
The British star shared: ‘She jumped on me and said, “You got the part,” and we both ran and jumped in the pool and ate loads of pizza that whole day. It was the best day ever.’
Game of Thrones came to an end in April after captivating millions of viewers worldwide after almost a decade on screen.
This is not the first time Sophie has shocked her parents with her decisions as her mother Sally recently revealed the actress informed her about her ‘quickie’ Las Vegas wedding with singer Joe, 29, just moments before walking down the aisle.
