The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Osun State, Chief Ademola Ishola, has said Senator Iyiola Omisore is a bona fide member of the party.

Ishola said this in an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Thursday at the inauguration of local government chairmen of the party in Osun State.

A governorship aspirant of the SDP had launched a verbal attack on Omisore following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the party, arguing that the former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, was just a sympathiser of the SDP and not a real member.

But the SDP chairman, while defending the new member of the party, stated that Omisore was duly registered as a member of the SDP at his ward in Ile Ife and had collected his membership card.

He said it was incorrect for anybody to say that the former deputy governor had not joined the SDP.

In a related development, the Secretary to the State Government in Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has submitted his letter of intent to contest the governorship election on the platform of the ruling APC.

Adeoti, who is an indigene of Iwo, submitted the letter at the APC secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday at a ceremony which was well attended by hundreds of his supporters from across the state.

The SSG, who is one of the governorship aspirants from the Osun West Senatorial District, said the governorship ticket should be zoned to the area because it had not produced a governor since the nation returned to civil rule in 1999.

The Chairman of the APC in the state, Mr. Gboyega Famoodun, had earlier stated that Adeoti showed that he was serious about his governorship aspiration and that was why he was the first to visit the secretariat to submit his letter of intent to contest.
