Rivers APC accuses Wike of Stashing State Funds in Abuja Residence

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday accused Governor Nyesom Wike of keeping the state allocation inside his Abuja residence.

The state Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, told supporters of the party that while the governor was keeping state funds in his personal residence, he (Wike) was using local government funds to run the state.

But the state Government, through the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Emma Okah, said Flag-Amachree was not the state APC chairman, adding that his (Flag-Amachree) statement was an indication that he didn’t understand what government was all about.

Flag-Amachree spoke in Ahoada on Saturday when a lawmaker representing Ahoada East Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Mr. Martins Mannah, officially defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said, “Wike has been spending local government money. He has not spent any state allocation; that is why none of his chairmen has been able to execute any project worth N5m. He is stashing Rivers money in his Abuja residence and Rivers people will all mobilise to that his Abuja house to reclaim our money.”

Okah said state allocations were always sent to Central Bank branches and not personal residences of governors.

He maintained that funds belonging to caretaker committee chairmen of local government areas in the state had always been managed by the council bosses.

He said, “Characters like Ojukaye Flag-Amachree are not the ones that we should be reacting to. Before, they were saying we hid the budget. But clearly, Ojukaye does not know what governance is all about.
