One of the daughters of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Taiwo, on Thursday signified her intention to contest a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly during the 2019 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The monarch’s daughter is seeking to represent the Ibadan South-West constituency in the House. At the constituency’s party secretariat where she declared her intention, the aspirant said she was not taking advantage of her position as one of the children of Olubadan, saying that she was ready to serve the people.

She said, “My willingness to serve my people and the importance of getting what my people need made me come into politics. I am assuring my people in the constituency that I will ensure they get what they need. I have the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy to my constituents.

“It is true that my father is the Olubadan of Ibadan land, but I am not contesting in order to use my father’s influence to get the party’s ticket and win, I want people to know that I have the capacity and I am not going to capitalise on my father’s influence. I want my people to support me for what and who I am.”

Miss Adetunji obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics Education from the Lagos State University and Masters degree in Finance from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
