Neymar will undergo surgery on his injured foot in Brazil at the end of the week.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward cracked the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and hurt his ankle during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille.
The Brazil international was stretchered off in tears following a challenge from Bouna Sarr.
On Tuesday, Neymar’s father said he faced “at least six weeks” out and PSG have confirmed he will have surgery in his native Brazil at the end of the week.
A club statement read: “After an initial treatment period of three days in line with a strict medical protocol, a joint decision has been taken between the medical staffs of both Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team.
“In accordance with the player, it has been decided that Neymar will undergo surgery in Brazil at the end of this week.
“He will be operated on by Dr Rodrigo Lasmar, accompanied by Professor Saillant, representing PSG.”
Neymar will miss PSG’s crucial Champions League last-16 second leg tie against Real Madrid on March 6, while Brazil will hope the 26-year-old will have recovered in time for this summer’s World Cup.
